  • Ornamental, bushy plant you can use in cooking
  • Intense scent
  • Cutting grown for consistent, strong flavour

Common Name: Sage

Description: Sage has been well known for its medicinal properties throughout the ages. Absolute™ Sage, with its strong, classic flavour, is a very tough and ornamental garden plant. With a well-balanced branching habit, it's an absolute winner for any style of garden. Clean, light grey-green foliage creates a striking contrast, in both colour and woolly texture. Beautiful purple flowers sit above the leaves, and appear throughout summer to complete this plant.

Cooking Uses: With flavours previously only available from mature, wild grown Mediterranean herbs, Absolute™ Sage is great in stuffing, pasta, on meats, potatoes, stews, pizza and more. Delicious with melted butter or olive oil. It's recommended for cooked dishes due to its strong flavour. Use 1/3 the suggested amount of this herb in traditional recipes, or use the full recommended amount to make it the hero of the dish.

Size: Approx. 25-35cm H x 35-45cm W

Planting, Growth and Tolerances: Low growing and bushy, this plant is great as a ground cover or border, in pots, hanging baskets and patio planters. Plant Absolute™ Sage 30cm apart in spring, summer and early autumn in full sun to light shade. It prefers well drained soil, avoid wet feet. A hardy perennial with good drought, heat and frost tolerance.

Care: Water as required, allowing soil to dry out slightly between watering. Avoid over watering, particularly in winter. In spring and in autumn if required, use a slow release fertiliser and/or incorporate compost into the soil. If heavily harvested, apply a light application of quick release as required (usually only for pots). Harvest as required by picking leaves. If required, prune by up to 1/3 in spring or early autumn.
